A team built on integrity
Every member of the Spivey Architects team is much more than someone with an interest in architecture. They are knowledgeable, ethical, experienced, conscientious, and caring. When clients choose Spivey for their residential or commercial design, they have the creative power of our entire Charleston architect team working for them.
Michael W. Spivey, AIA, NCARB
Michael is the owner and founder of Spivey Architects, Inc. With over thirty years of both design and construction experience, service to his clients is of paramount importance to him personally and the mission of the firm. In addition to enjoying a reputation for fine homes, he has designed medical, dental and veterinary clinics, golf clubhouses, banks, restaurants and offices. Outside of his practice, he enjoys guitar, woodworking, boating, golf and is a licensed pilot. He is past president of Charleston Public Facilities Corporation, past president of The Rotary Club of Charleston Breakfast and Past Commodore of The James Island Yacht Club. He currently serves on the Board of Managers for a local Software Technology Firm and holds 2 U.S. Patents for product design.
Brad K. Brown, RA
Starting at an early age with Legos, Lincoln Logs, building tree forts, and an active imagination, Brad’s interest in buildings during playtime grew into his adulthood passion for architecture. He strives to live in a world filled with well-designed buildings while always having a fresh cup of coffee close by. With more than 20 years of experience in the low country, he has worked with a vast number of notable clients across the state.
Neal A. Sullivan
Neal arrived in the architecture field via an alternative but practical route by way of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands and Martha’s Vineyard, MA. Equipped with a B.S. in Environmental Design, over a span of 30+ years he worked his way up through the positions of laborer, framer, carpenter, contractor, draftsman, designer, project manager, and residential design business owner. His aptitude in understanding how the building and design process interrelate helps in his ability to effectively communicate with contractors and clients.

2000 miles from home in Taiwan, Jason has just received a Master’s of Architecture from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Now working as an intern architect, everything is a learning experience in which he aims to polish his skillset from the very foundation (pun intended). Jason has a wide range of interests and has held many titles in the past- teacher, musician, founder, film director, and soldier… Becoming an architect is just another life goal he is determined to achieve.
